About the Luthier

I have spent the majority of my life working with my hands. As a young man I spent many hours along side my dad as he completed many projects ranging from furniture to boat building.
I fell in love with the beauty of wood and its’ unique characteristics. In my profession of flooring and countertop installation it’s all about fit and finish! The techniques and tools used along with my case of detailitis and my desire for superb tone have been of great benefit in building guitars.

My enjoyment of playing guitars led me to Dusty String’s in Seattle where I saw a harp guitar. I had to have one but could not afford it. This turned me on to the idea of guitar making. Thus I submerged myself in Guitar Making Tradition and Technology as well as the Internet. Old issues of “The Guild of American Luthiers” journals provided a plan and much sage advice from other builders. These gave me the confidence for my first venture, a six string guitar with a neck fit for a giant. Not to be deterred I continued building. This started out to be a means to an end, but I was hooked! I have been building, retooling and revising methods ever since in a quest to make my instruments a pleasure to the eye as well as the ear.
